PERSONALITY
Others might say that Hannah is extroverted and confident with a natural sense of willing friendliness. Beyond these first impressions her character is one that can be described as passionately intense with an innate sense of true justice and integrity. Due to her self-assured nature she is adamantly convinced that no matter the circumstance she is ultimately on the good guys side.
Hannah has a penchant for athletics and a disregard for personal safety(see also: fearless, or near fearless) that has lent itself well to her role as a Were Hunter which at times she treats more as a sport than a crusade of virtue. This is mostly due to a vehement sense of competition. However, when it comes down to the wire, Hannah's sense of loyalty to both her friends and family proves to be unfaltering and her heart is truly in the right place.
But there are many flaws to her character that hamper her ability to charm. Hannah's flair for melodrama tends to make her a whirl-wind of a girl when it comes to the ebb and flow of her interpersonal relationships. Truly she is a character of dramatic extremes with little gray area to be had and an emotionally driven nature that can more often than not lead to hasty inclinations that she later regrets. Likewise, she is quick to judge others and is often too stubborn or prideful to admit when she's wrong. This can extend to Hannah even lying to cast herself in a better light, when in reality, she is usually misguided.
These traits embed themselves in the postscript of a character already plagued with a rather combustible temper, an inclination towards physical violence, an insatiable curiosity, and an unbridled magical talent which Hannah holds little rationale over.
HISTORY
Hannah was born in the sleepy town of Marfa, Texas to a cattle farmer named Fred and a capable witchly circus performer named Liselotte on a torrid hot evening in June. Her childhood was remarkably average, mostly spent with her siblings, being the middle child of three, there was seldom a day spent alone. With an elder sister to look up to, Hannah followed in the footsteps of Aimee with much ardor despite only being one year her elder. During this time she was enamored and wanted to be just like her big sister, much to her younger brothers disdain who often felt left out of the two girls antics. Hannah and Aimee were inseparable, that is, until the day Aimee was identified as a fledgling and sent to study with a coven located in Louisiana.
Despite that day being anticipated, it still broke her heart all the same as the young redhead pined for the day where the two girls would be reunited once again. They would be in the same coven and share each others secrets just like the old days. As Aimee wrote to Hannah about all the exciting milestones of her first year away from home, Hannah was filled with a mixture of both envy and excitement for the day she, too, discovered her powers. It simply could not come soon enough.
Of course, as that first year progressed for Aimee, the letters became more and more infrequent, and suddenly, stopped altogether. The little tidbits of information she learned from then forward of her sister simply came from small talk between her parents. Aimee excelled as a witch and made strong bonds with the rest of her coven. When Aimee did finally return for holiday Hannah knew immediately something had changed about her sister, or rather, her relationship with her sister. Aimee earned the praise of her parents who frequently boasted about Aimee's bright future and the pride and power she would bring to their family. With this praise Aimee's ego grew- and slowly, Hannah and her younger brother Rémy seemed to fall into the shadows of her over zealous family.
The next year proved to be a difficult time for both herself and Rémy. Quietly the once tight-knit family seemed to unravel at the seams due the attention which Aimee brought to the name Hunt. Still, Hannah clung to the idea of joining her sister during this time, the very smallest glimmer of hope that maybe Hannah, too, would be accepted into what she viewed as this circle of elite. More time passed at that day never came. By the age of sixteen she had lost almost all hope of ever seeing that day.
Meanwhile, her Father's business had been suffering. Month after month several individual cattle had been found mauled within the confines of their pens. Pouring thousands into replenishing the herd, her Father's pockets waned. Finally, Hannah's Mother took matters into her own hands by inviting a very old friend (and later Hannah would come to suspect they had been a bit more than friends) to stay. His name was Byron Chisholm and he was a werewolf hunter.
He was also a total babe despite being three times her elder. Hannah had thought she had fallen in love the first time she laid eyes on him. Some mild school girl stalking driven by the cocktail of teenage hormones that surged through her then sixteen year old veins drove Hannah to discover his true intent and just what had been killing her Father's cows became apparent. This did not deter her curiosity, and instead, Hannah delved further into her inquisitive investigations. This lead to a near death scare at the hands of a fully transformed werewolf one evening out in the cattles pens which Byron prevented, by this time well aware of the impertinent teenage girl's meddling.
Hannah was grounded for several weeks following. Then, she was told to pack, that she would be leaving with Byron. Apparently the werewolf hunter had been rather impressed with the teenage girls stupidity and fervor and agreed to take her on as an apprentice. Ambitious as ever, Hannah quickly agreed and left the next evening.
What no one told Hannah was that Byron literally lived in the middle of fucking nowhere, Yukon. By comparison Marfa was a bustling city of foot traffic and desert. The nearest town to Byron's modest plumbingless, electricityless cottage was approximately four hours south. From there onwards Hannah was introduced to the thrilling land of trees, snow, and wiping ones ass at 4 am in the pitch dark wilderness trembling in fear of hungry bears. It was hardly the glamorous were-hunting life she had been expecting. Later, Byron would explain that the reason he lived there was because Werewolves had found safe haven in that very seclusion.
Her first couple of months were miserable but Hannah was far too stubborn to admit defeat to her parents. McSteamy quickly metamorphosed into McAsshole as he was a strict teacher that demanded the best from his pupils. She did, however, do very well in terms of the physical and tracking aspects of her instruction having a natural talent that merely required some cultivation to truly gleam. Once she got over the lack of modern necessities for normal functioning civilization, Hannah's focus sharpened and Byron's criticisms were met not with attitude but progress.
Time passed slowly at Byron's cottage. Four years felt like a decade and Hannah spent the majority of her free time reading or exploring the vast wilderness that lay at her fingertips. Gradually, as she aged, Hannah would come and go as she pleased, sometimes not returning for weeks at a time.
It was at twenty when Hannah's powers finally came into fruition, by which point Hannah had given up hope of their existence, so it led to quite the nasty little surprise one evening when she had been tracking a pack of feral Were's and a sloppily aimed fireball had given away her position, scared away the pack, and burned down an embarrassingly large section of evergreens. Late bloomer was the understatement of her twentieth year.
Rather than rejoicing at her newfound abilities Hannah panicked. What would she do? Who could she tell? The following weeks proved to be difficult as her already oscillating temperament gave way to a handful of new magical expressions that ranged from more forest fires to accidental teleportations.
Hannah resolved to make her way south, knowing the one person she could turn to in her time of need was over two thousand miles away. The trip was arduous but doable and after many detours and mishaps she reached Hollow Falls, Louisiana.
Reuniting with Aimee was not at all a pleasant affair. Her sister's first reaction was to offer a cold-shoulder Hannah. After all it had been years, and they were different people. Hannah was a Hunter now, something many supernaturals felt was an inadmissible crime, even if it was not towards their own faction. Certainly, Aimee's coven rejected Hannah who had first come to their doorstep desperate and frightened of what she had become. Her life was only spared by the witches because she was Aimee's sister, and advised to leave town immediately.
But Hannah did not listen and was persistent. She went from being rejected by her own blood to being at least civil with Aimee. However, her coven would never accept Hannah. After much pleading with her sister she agreed to at least help Hannah not accidentally kill anyone innocent (though Hannah did not mention that it had already happened twice, whoops) and in return Hannah's hunter services would be at will to her sister.
